Disability Support Worker

About the Company:

Unidex Healthcare are a privately owned recruitment company established in 2001 and operate across Australia, with our main offices in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland. Unidex actively recruit for all areas in the healthcare field specialising in Disability Services, Support Services and Allied Health.

The Role:
We are currently looking for Disability Support Workers and Nurses to work with a mid 40-year-old male participant based in Bundaberg, QLD. Our participant recently sustained a Spinal Cord Injury from a motor vehicle accident. As a result of the accident, the participant has limited functional mobility in his lower body, but is able to use his wheelchair and transfer himself independently. Our participant is also at risk of Hepatic Encephalopathy (HE) and is diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. This is a casual ongoing position with no end date in sight; we can offer part-time or full-time hours.

The current care plan in place requires assistance over 2x shifts of care within a 24-hour period Monday through to Sunday. The shift times are as follows:

  • Morning shift will be (7:00am - 12:30pm)
  • Afternoon shift will be (5:00pm - 9:30pm)

Successful candidates will be provided full training and upskilling with our clinical support team.


Pay Rates:

· Day shift $38.75 per hour

· Afternoon shift $42.63 per hour

· Saturday shift $54.25 per hour

· Sunday shift $69.75 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bowel Therapy - enema administration & digital stimulation
  • Wound care - skin checks
  • Personal Care - showering, grooming, hygiene etc
  • Verbal Prompting
  • Manual Handling - Sara Steady, transfers etc
  • Domestic care - cleaning, washing, meal preparation etc
  • Medication Administration
  • Transportation - community access, health related appointments, social events etc
  • Scheduling & Task Management
  • Daily Monitoring & Reporting of his current health conditions
  • Companionship & Capacity Building

Skills & Experiences:

  • Previous experience working with spinal cord injuries
  • Australian Driver Licence
  • Current National Police Clearance
  • Current NDIS Screening Card or Yellow Card
  • Current Blue Card
  • First Aid & CPR Certificate
  • Reliable, proactive and positive attitude
