Disability Support Worker

About the Company:

Unidex Healthcare are a privately owned recruitment company established in 2001 and operate across Australia, with our main offices in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland. Unidex actively recruit for all areas in the healthcare field specialising in Disability Services, Support Services and Allied Health.

The Role:

We are seeking experienced supports worker to assist our male client in Murarrie, QLD.

The Participant:

Our participant has a very easy-going attitude, and would like carers that are experienced and can guide him to become more independent.

He is from NSW and isn't familiar with the Brisbane area, so would like someone that can provide him the flexibility to explore the community and give him the ability to try new things.

Our participant suffers from memory loss and will need a lot of assistance. He also cannot read and understand well therefore all information needs to be clearly communicated.


Due to the complexity of our participant, successful candidates must have prior experience working with complex care clients - which includes experience with:

  • Hoisting
  • Bowel therapy (twice morning and night)
  • Catheter management
  • Skin checks (prone to pressure wounds)
  • Community access (lives close to a train station)
  • Domestic assistance

Current Roster:

Our participant is being discharged from the hospital next week (week commencing 12th February) therefore we require candidates that are available for an immediate start.

This role is available on a casual, on-going basis and will commence ASAP.

Available shifts are as follows:

  • Monday: 9.30am - 11.30am
  • Monday: 8pm - 10pm
  • Tuesday: 8pm - 10pm
  • Wednesday: 9.30am - 11.30am
  • Wednesday: 8pm - 10pm
  • Thursday: 9.30am - 11.30am
  • Friday: 8pm - 10pm
  • Saturday: 9.30am - 2pm
  • Saturday: 9.30am - 11.30am
  • Sunday: 9.30am - 11.30am
  • Sunday: 8pm - 10pm

Pay rates are:

  • Day shift $42.00 per hour
  • Afternoon Shift $46.20 per hour
  • Night Shift $47.04 per hour
  • Saturday shift $58.80 per hour
  • Sunday shift $75.60 per hour
  • $0.96 travel allowance (applies only when travelling with participant to and from medical/rehab appointments).

Skills & Experiences:

  • Experience with Spinal Cord Injuries, Brain Injuries and/or complex care participants
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Current National Police Clearance
  • Current Working with Children's Check
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
