Disability Support Worker

About the Company:

Unidex Healthcare are a privately owned recruitment company established in 2001 and operate across Australia, with our main offices in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland. Unidex actively recruit for all areas in the healthcare field specialising in Disability Services, Support Services and Allied Health.


The Role:

Our participant is a 41-year-old female who has a Spinal Cord and Traumatic Brain Injury due to a motorbike accident. She also has Bipolar Disorder.

This role is on a casual, on-going basis and will commence ASAP.

A quick meet and greet with our participant will be required prior to commencement.



Requirements: *Training Provided*

Due to the complexity of the participant, successful candidates must have prior experience working with complex care clients - which includes experience with:

  • Personal care
  • Bowel care (Peristeen Bowel Therapy - Training Provided, although enema experience is ideal)
  • Skin checks (pressure injuries)
  • Manual handling (hoisting)
  • Domestic tasks
  • Catheter care

Current Roster:

Monday - Sunday

AM Routine Shifts

Staff 1: 7:00AM - 10:30AM (2:1 assist)

Staff 2: 8:00AM - 10:30AM (21 assist)





PM Routine Shifts

Staff 1: 5:00PM - 9PM (2:1 assist)

Staff 2: 8:30PM - 10PM (2:1 assist)



Community Access Shifts

Staff 1: 12:00PM - 2:30PM (1:1 assist) - This shift occurs every Tues, Fri and Sat only



Pay rates are:

  • Day Shift - $38.75 p/h
  • Afternoon Shift - $42.63 p/h
  • Saturday Shift - $54.25 p/h
  • Sunday Shift - $69.75 p/h



Key Responsibilities:

  • Personal care duties
  • Assistance with bowel therapy (Peristeen - training will be provided)
  • Hoisting/transfers
  • Daily skin checks
  • Catheter Management
  • Pressure wound management
  • Assistance with domestic tasks
  • Assistance with meal preparation
  • Assistance with daily Health & Rehab exercises
  • Community access + rehab appointments

Skills & Experiences:

  • Experience with spinal cord injuries / brain injury or other high complex care participants
  • Experience with catheter management
  • Experience with bowel therapy OR willing to learn
  • Prior experience with pressure injuries
  • Hoist / transfers
  • Australian Driver License & motor vehicle
  • Current National Police Clearance
  • Current Working with Children's Check
  • First Aid & CPR Certificate
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module
