Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Apprenticeship

Kickstart your career in the heavy diesel industry with a hands-on apprenticeship designed to set you up for long-term success. This is a 4-year apprenticeship (or continuation for those part-way through), with a clear pathway into ongoing employment upon qualification.

Delivered through our Group Training Organisation (GTO), this role offers stability, structured development and exposure to a range of worksites and projects- ensuring you build a well-rounded skillset across your apprenticeship.

Working within a large-scale, nationally operating logistics and transport environment, you'll gain experience maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of heavy vehicles, trailers and specialised equipment supporting major supply chain, port and offshore operations.

What you'll be doing

  • Assist with servicing, maintenance and repairs on heavy diesel vehicles and equipment
  • Learn to diagnose faults across a varied fleet in both workshop and field settings
  • Support high-volume operations across logistics and transport environments
  • Complete maintenance records and adhere to safety procedures

What you'll gain

  • A 4-year structured apprenticeship with the opportunity for ongoing employment post-trade
  • Exposure to major national operations and a diverse heavy fleet
  • Rotations and varied site experience through the GTO model
  • Ongoing mentoring and support from dedicated Field Officers
  • A nationally recognised trade qualification

About the GTO model

  • Continuous employment throughout your apprenticeship
  • Access to multiple host employers and project environments
  • Additional mentoring, wellbeing support and performance management
  • Greater job security and reduced risk of downtime

What we're looking for

  • Strong interest in heavy diesel mechanics
  • Reliable, motivated and eager to learn
  • Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to safety and teamwork
  • Driver's licence (or working towards) preferred

This is a genuine opportunity to complete your trade within a high-performing environment, with a clear pathway into a long-term career in the industry.
