Disability Support Worker

About the Company:
Unidex Healthcare are a privately owned recruitment company established in 2001 and operate across Australia, with our main offices in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland. Unidex actively recruit for all areas in the healthcare field specialising in Disability Services, Support Services and Allied Health.

The Role:
We are currently seeking experienced Disability Support Workers to assist a 19-year old male participant located in Ramsay, QLD. The participant has recently sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and will require ongoing support as he transitions back into the home environment.

Support is required Monday to Sunday, approximately 10-12 hours per day. Shift times are flexible though will be roughly scheduled between:

  • 6:00am to 6:00pm

The participant is a young man living with his mother and two siblings who requires support in adjusting back into home-life post-discharge. He has a great sense of humour and is working towards goals focused on building strength & mobility, increasing community engagement, and regaining independence.

Part-time and full-time hours are available for suitable applicants, with flexibility to accommodate your availability.

Pay Rates:

  • Day shift $38.75 per hour
  • Saturday shift $54.25 per hour
  • Sunday shift $69.75 per hour
  • Public Holidays $85.25 per hour
  • $0.99 travel allowance per km (applies only when travelling with participant to and from appointments)

Key responsibilities include:

  • Prompting and supervision across daily routines
  • Assistance with personal care tasks, toileting & transfers as required
  • Assistance with domestic tasks such as laundry, meal preparation, and general cleaning
  • Support with community access and attending allied health appointments
  • Assisting with Rehabilitation exercises
  • Assistance with shopping, budgeting, and structured activities
  • Helping establish structure, encourage independence, and promote safe engagement in day-to-day activities

Skills & Experiences:

  • Australian Driver Licence
  • Current National Police Clearance
  • Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificates
  • Certificate III or IV in Disability, Individual Support, or equivalent (preferred but not essential)
  • A minimum of 6 months of experience as a support worker, or relevant experience in a similar role
  • Have excellent communication skills and a passion for making a difference
