The Role

FHR currently have multiple opportunities for an experienced Production Operator/Machine Operator to join our client that specialises in the steel industry. This opportunity is located in Wacol (Brisbane) and we have immediate starts available for the candidates who're successful in their application for these positions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate steel manufacturing and production machinery safely and efficiently to meet daily production targets and quality standards.
  • Bundle, strap, and prepare reinforcing steel products for dispatch, ensuring orders are packed accurately and securely to meet customer and transport requirements.
  • Conduct routine quality inspections, measurements, and checks to ensure products meet specifications and customer requirements.
  • Operate overhead gantry cranes to safely move steel products, raw materials, and finished goods throughout the production facility.
  • Perform basic machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and housekeeping to minimise downtime and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Follow workplace health and safety procedures while assisting with material handling, loading, unloading, and general production duties.

Skills, Experience & Requirements

  • Able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Comfortable being on your feet for extended periods
  • Physically capable of light manual handling (up to 15kg)
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • Gantry crane experience highly desired
  • Forklift licence or warehouse experience is advantageous but not essential
  • Dependable, punctual, and consistent in attendance and performance
  • Ability to provide two recent, contactable work referees to confirm employment history
