The Role:
We are currently seeking a Registered Nurse to join our team supporting a young adult male participant in Rockhampton, QLD, who is living with a spinal cord injury and Level 3 Autism (ASD). Our participant is bariatric and requires high-complexity care.
This role will act as a team leader, providing clinical oversight, guidance, and support to the care team while also being hands-on in delivering high-intensity support. The RN will work closely with our National Clinical Manager for support and training.
Our participant requires support 24/7. Tentative shift times are outlined below, covering morning, afternoon, and night shifts:
- 6:00am - 2:00pm (2 x Assist)
- 2:00pm- 10:00pm (2 x Assist)
- Inactive Night shift 10:00pm - 6:00am
Our participant is kind and friendly, with a great sense of humour. He enjoys cars and four-wheel driving, spending time outdoors, watching movies, and being with friends and family.
Part-time and full-time hours are available for suitable applicants, with flexibility to accommodate your availability. Successful candidates will also be provided with training.
Pay Rates:
- Day shift $57.50 per hour
- Afternoon Shift $63.25 per hour
- Saturday shift $80.50 per hour
- Sunday shift $103.50 per hour
Key responsibilities include:
- Clinical oversight and leadership of the care team, including mentoring, training and upskilling staff
- Ensuring documentation, reporting, and escalation of clinical concerns are completed accurately
- Assistance with Personal Care, such as personal hygiene, dressing, bathing & grooming.
- Assistance with Catheter management, including preparation of sterile syringes, routine catheter flushes and drainage bag changes.
- Bowel Therapy support, including administering enemas, completing de-gas procedures and performing digital stimulation
- Hoisting for all transfers using a full sling hoist (2-person assist)
- Completing and documenting skin integrity checks as part of pressure injury prevention.
- Administering medication in line with the care plan and medication safety protocols
- Meal preparation and feeding assistance (includes fatigue and posture considerations)
- Assistance with domestic tasks including laundry, cleaning & general tidying
- Assistance with home exercise programs and postural management
- Support with community access and rehabilitation exercises
- Helping establish structure, encourage independence, and promote safe engagement in day-to-day activities
Skills & Experiences:
- Bachelor of Nursing (completed in Australia)
- AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (mandatory)
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates
- Australian Driver Licence
- Current National Police Clearance
- Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Demonstrated experience providing high-level care, including support for spinal cord injury
- Strong clinical leadership and mentoring skills to support, train, and upskill care staff
- Confidence in clinical decision-making, risk assessment, and escalation in complex care environments
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
