About the Client

Our client, is a respected independent electric motor repair specialist with workshops across Victoria. For decades, they have provided expert repair, rewinding and refurbishment services for electric motors, generators, pumps and rotating electrical equipment across the commercial, industrial and infrastructure sectors.

Due to continued growth and the evolution of its Melbourne operations, our client is seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to lead its Campbellfield workshop.

About the Role

This is a genuine leadership opportunity for an experienced Electric Motor Repair Technician who is ready to take the next step in their career.

As the Workshop Manager, you'll lead the day-to-day operations of the workshop while remaining hands-on with electric motor repairs and rewinds. You'll coordinate workflow, oversee job scheduling, mentor a skilled team, maintain quality and safety standards, and ensure exceptional customer service.

This is a hands-on management role where you'll lead from the front, working closely with management to drive operational performance and support the continued growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the daily operations of the Campbellfield workshop
  • Supervise, mentor and develop workshop technicians
  • Coordinate workflow, job scheduling and workshop priorities
  • Carry out hands-on electric motor repairs, rewinds, testing and fault finding
  • Ensure repairs are completed safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards
  • Allocate work based on technician skills, workload and customer priorities
  • Liaise with customers regarding repair progress, technical advice and service requirements
  • Manage workshop documentation, job cards, timesheets and reporting
  • Use Simpro (or similar workshop management software) to manage workflow and job progress (preferred)
  • Assist with onsite inspections, equipment pickups and customer support where required
  • Promote a positive, safe and productive workshop culture

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Trade qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Electrotechnology or a related trade
  • Extensive experience repairing, rewinding and testing electric motors and rotating equipment
  • Previous experience leading or managing a workshop team
  • Strong knowledge of workshop scheduling and operational planning
  • Experience using Simpro or similar workshop management software (preferred)
  • Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
  • Commitment to quality workmanship and workplace safety
  • Current Australian Driver's Licence
  • Forklift Licence (desirable)
