Starting an apprenticeship is your first step into a rewarding career. Earn a salary, while gaining on-the-job experience and completing a nationally recognised qualification. We work across a number of key industries, including electrical and plumbing apprentices. We have trained over 2000 apprentices in the last 20 years, kickstarting many successful careers.
Although it’s not a requirement, aspiring tradies can do what’s called a “pre apprenticeship course” to set up for success (for example, a Cert II in Electrotechnlogy). This is a great way to demonstrate your skills and commitment to the trade, and can improve your opportunities before you’ve even started.
Think about the kind of work you enjoy and the industry you want to be part of. Whether it’s construction, plumbing, electrical or another hands-on field, finding the right fit will keep you motivated and increase your chances of completing your apprenticeship
An apprenticeship is a mix of practical, on-the-job training and structured learning through a registered training organisation (RTO). You’ll need to manage both aspects, so being organised and committed will help you stay on track.
You’ll be learning from experienced tradespeople who are there to help you grow. Ask questions, take notes, and treat every task as an opportunity to build your skills. A positive attitude can make a big difference.
As an apprentice, you’re an employee with the same rights to fair pay, safe working conditions and support as any other worker. Make sure you understand your employment terms, including your hours, entitlements, and who to speak to if you have any concerns.
A Group Training pathway is a smart move for new apprentices who want to hit the ground running in their chosen trade. One of the biggest benefits is that you get paid while you learn, gaining hands-on experience across a range of real-world job sites. From small local businesses to well-known national companies, you’ll have the chance to work with a variety of host employers, which means broader industry exposure and a stronger, more versatile skill set.
You won’t be navigating your apprenticeship alone either. We offer structured support, from making sure you’re paid correctly and on time each week, to providing access to mentoring and guidance from experienced tradespeople. You’ll also take part in off-the-job training through a registered TAFE or training provider, helping you steadily work towards a nationally recognised qualification. This balanced approach ensures you’re developing both practical and theoretical skills to set you up for long-term success.
Whether your goal is to become your own boss, work for a top-tier company, or simply build a reliable career, Group Training offers a clear pathway forward. With dedicated support, ongoing development, and a wide network of industry contacts, it’s a strong start for your apprenticeship and your career.
