Disability Support Worker

About the Company:

Unidex Healthcare are a privately owned recruitment company established in 2001 and operate across Australia, with our main offices in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland. Unidex actively recruit for all areas in the healthcare field specialising in Disability Services, Support Services and Allied Health.

We are currently looking for experienced Disability Support Workers to join our team to assist our participant in Cootamundra, NSW. Our participant is in his 40s and has spinal cord injury and requires assistance in all aspects of his life. He also has a support dog living with him.


Our participant requires support from Monday to Sunday, 24/7 CARE.

This role is casual on-going and will involve a roster that includes:

Monday-Friday

  • Day (7:30AM-9:30AM) and (7:30AM-3:30PM)
  • Afternoon (3:30PM-9PM), (7PM-9PM) and (9PM-11:30PM)
  • Inactive Sleepover (11:30PM-7:30PM)

Saturday-Sunday

  • Day (7:30AM-9:30AM) and (7:30AM-11AM)
  • Afternoon (11AM-9PM), (7PM-9PM) and (9PM-11:30PM)
  • Inactive Sleepover (11:30PM-7:30PM)

Pay rates:

  • Day Shift - $40 p/h
  • Afternoon Shift - $44 p/h
  • Saturday Shift - $56 p/h
  • Sunday Shift - $72 p/h
  • Sleepover allowance - $100 fixed rate

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assistance with personal care, showering, drying, dressing, dental care, etc.,
  • Complete skin checks and skin integrity management
  • Catheter Care Management
  • Manual Handling/Transfers, Hoisting
  • Domestic assistance which includes cleaning, general tidying, etc.,
  • Assistance with Bowel Management
  • Assist in medication administration
  • Assist in Stoma Care Management

Skills & Experiences:

  • Experience in Stoma Care, Catheter care and manual handling
  • With medication competencies
  • Prior experience working with people who have complex care needs
  • Prior experience with complex wound dressings
  • Current First Aid & CPR
  • National Police Clearance
  • NDIS 'Worker Orientation' module and Supporting Effective Communication Module
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Working with Children Check
  • Full Australian working rights
  • Positive Attitudes and flexibility in shift times
  • Administering Medication Training Certificate
