Disability Support Worker

Unidex actively recruit for all areas in the healthcare field specialising in Disability Services, Support Services and Allied Health.

We are currently looking for experienced Disability Support Worker to join our team and assist our participant in Hinchinbrook, NSW. He is 21 years old, and he sustained a spinal cord injury at the age of 10 and is of Egyptian descent, practicing Islam. He was also diagnosed with Traumatic Brain Injury in his mid-teens. He will need support 3 days a week.

This role is casual on-going and will involve a roster that includes:

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday:

• Day 1720-1920

Pay rates:

• Dayshift - $38.75 p/h
• Afternoon - $42.63 p/h
• Saturday Shift - $54.25
• Sunday Shift - $69.75 p/h
• Travel allowance - 0.98 cents per KM travelled

Key Responsibilities:

• Assistance with personal care, showering, drying, dressing, dental care, etc.,
• Complete skin checks and skin integrity management
• Assistance with bowel care (Peristeen; training will be provided)
• Manual Handling/Transfers, Hoisting
• Assitance/driving to his rugby game (every Sunday)

Skills & Experiences:

• Experience in bowel care (peristeen)
• Prior experience working with people who have complex care needs
• Experience in lifting wheelchairs (approx. 15kg)
• With car/van that can fit 2 wheelchairs
• Current First Aid & CPR
• National Police Clearance
• NDIS 'Worker Orientation' module and Supporting Effective Communication Module
• NDIS Worker Screening Check
• Working with Children Check
• Full Australian working rights
• Positive Attitudes and flexibility in shift times
