Heavy Vehicle Mechanic

The Opportunity:

We are currently looking for a dedicated and experienced Diesel Mechanic to join a leading civil project based in Nhulunbuy on the spectacular Gove Peninsula, NT. This role will see you working with a team of skilled mechanics, servicemen (both fuel and lube truck) and boilermakers, to ensure all work is completed to quality and safety standards. You will oversee work order management to meet business objectives and customer expectations.



Where you will be working:

• Based out of the Gove Operations site, at Nhulunby on the beautiful Gove Peninsula
• Live in role working in Mobilisation and Demobilisation
• Close by accomodation - a single apartment or household provided based on your needs
• Day shift role with no late nights or weekends
• Working as part of the Rio Tinto Gove project

About the role:

• Minimum 3 years' experience as a qualified diesel Mechanic (does not need to be Heavy equipment)
• Working across Monday - Friday, approximately 10 hours per day
• Identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of business operations
• Managing external vendors and establishing and maintaining positive relationships with suppliers or service providers
• Managing labour allocation of internal employees and external contractors to ensure efficient team operations
• Promoting and demonstrating safety behaviours and reporting processes
• Providing necessary support and advice to the team to minimise delays in job completion
• Stock inventory and order management
• Customer liaison, working across multiple communication platforms
• Raising job cards and monitoring work progress

Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 3 years' experience as a qualified diesel Mechanic
• Previous experience in a similar role
• Previous experience on a mine site advantageous
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Ability to oversee, delegate and assist with tasks if and when required
• Not afraid to give constructive feedback
